How Does The Ed Keating Center Operate?
|
|
The Ed Keating Center is sustained through a combination of limited spending and non-public support. Following the principles of Ed Keating and the founders of this facilty, this mission shall operate according to the concept and willingness of men helping men in a totally private effort. Through the extensive use of volunteers and a strong “make do” philosophy our spending is limited and efficient. Except for certain necessary profesional services, we undertake only what we can do ourselfs. For example, we retain no outside agency for fund-raising activities, more than 90% of the contributions we receive go directly to the funding of our programs. To date all of the revenue needed to operate The Ed Keating Center has been contributed by individuals and organizations, mainly through direct donations and support of our various fundraising events. The Ed Keating Center depends upon the generaosity of individuals and organizations not just for financial support but for always-needed donations of materials and supplies, as well as that valuable gift of a person’s time and effort. Notable support has been received from area churches, the Catholic Diocese, members of the recovering community, and from Dennis Eckersley, recently retired pitcher of the Boston Red Sox and future Major League Baseball Hall of Famer. |
